Privacy Policy
This policy describes how the iOS app FishRadar Bite Forecast (“FishRadar”, “we”) handles information. The app is local-first. We do not operate a user account system and we do not sell personal data.
1. Who we are
FishRadar is published by an independent developer. Privacy questions: gldenys1507@gmail.com or denyshlova@gmail.com.
2. Data we process on your device
- Location (when you allow it). Used to center the water map and to request weather for a water you selected. Coordinates are sent only to Open-Meteo as described below, not to a FishRadar account server (we do not run one). You can deny location; the map still works if you pick a water yourself.
- Catch log. Species, date, optional notes, optional photo, and the water you attach a catch to are stored in an on-device SwiftData database. We cannot read this file remotely.
- Settings and PRO status. Language, units, selected fish, Fish Alarm on/off, and StoreKit entitlement are stored in UserDefaults / Keychain-equivalent local stores on the device.
- Weather. The app requests hourly weather from Open-Meteo using the selected water’s latitude and longitude (four decimal places, roughly 11 m). That request contains the water’s coordinates, not your name or Apple ID. Open-Meteo’s own policy applies to that HTTP request.
- Optional catch photo. If you attach a photo to a catch, it is stored only in the on-device database. It is never uploaded to FishRadar or Open-Meteo. Photos use the system photo picker (no full Photo Library permission).
3. Data we do not collect
- No FishRadar account, email signup, or password.
- No advertising identifier for ads (the app has no third-party ads).
- No analytics SDKs that identify you across apps.
- No contact list, camera permission, or microphone access.
- No remote push from a FishRadar server.
4. Purchases
Subscriptions and lifetime unlock are processed by Apple. Apple may collect payment data under Apple’s privacy policy. FishRadar receives a signed StoreKit transaction so the app can unlock PRO on this device (and Family Sharing devices when Apple allows it). We do not receive your full credit card number.
5. Notifications
Fish Alarm (PRO) uses local notifications scheduled on the device when a selected fish’s Feeding Activity Index is 70 or higher. We do not send remote push from a FishRadar server.
6. Children
The app does not target children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. App Store age rating is 4+ (no objectionable content).
7. Third parties
Weather providers and Apple (App Store, StoreKit, MapKit, and iCloud backup of the device if you enabled backup) may process data under their own policies. Any third party with whom FishRadar shares data (today: Open-Meteo for weather, and Apple for App Store / StoreKit / MapKit) will provide the same or equal protection of user data as stated in this policy and required by the App Store Review Guidelines. FishRadar does not sell data to data brokers.
8. Retention and deletion
All app data lives on the device (and in encrypted iCloud/iTunes backup if you enabled device backup). Delete catch entries in the app, revoke location in iOS Settings, or delete the app to remove local FishRadar files. Manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including GDPR/UK GDPR and CCPA), you may have rights to access, delete, or restrict processing. Because we do not hold an account database, the practical way to delete FishRadar data is to delete the app and, if needed, erase device backups that contain it. 10. Changes
We may update this page. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes notice of the new policy where permitted by law.
